I haven't been drawing much for myself lately - I haven't been drawing much at all to say the truth. But I've finally finished one of the commissioned illustrations for a project I've been asked to take part of, and as I haven't received the infos for the next illustration yet, I decided to relax and do something for myself. Sorry for the total gloomyness - but actually, that's not a sad picture at all, gloomy as it might look. I had that idea of a weird, pale-looking witch at her window with dark birds and strange flowers... and as I was midway through coloring she started to forcingly remind me of a character from a French musical for children called "Emilie Jolie"... Many French people of my age have been raised with that musical - a kind of an Alice in Wonderland thing when a little girl named Emilie enters her own children book and meets the characters of the book. It included a witch who "lived in a castle of ghosts", "had nails as long as winter" and "was the mother of all evil", but who actually was sad and lonely and longed for love. [She ends up marrying the Prince Charming of the story - I loved that musical.] So I decided to go into that direction and give my own version of the character. She's waiting for Prince Charming. Apart from that.... those flowers look carnivorous. O__o;; The colours are weird on the scanned version but for the sake of me, I didn't manage to get back the original colours, that are a tad brighter and more contrasted. :/ Enjoy! [Made with Staedtler pigment liners, black ink, Tria markers, pencils, white paint.] |
